About this Event
Join Piero Tomassoni and Cassius Matthias for an engaging talk exploring the profound influence of Austrian art and film on American artistic and cinematic traditions. In his presentation, Tomassoni traces a compelling journey from Viennese experimentalism to the work of Jonas Mekas and the rise of the U.S. avant-garde movement.
The discussion will highlight the impact of pioneering artist Valie EXPORT and examine how her work - and that of subsequent generations - shaped American filmmakers and visual artists. Rare film clips from Austrian archives will accompany the talk, offering a vivid visual framework for this transatlantic dialogue.
Please find more information on our website.
Doors open at 6:15 PM.
The event starts at 7:00 PM and is followed by an Austrian wine reception.
