About this Event
Join Esther Hoyle to delve into the archives of Somerset's criminal past.
Somerset Heritage Centre holds vast collections of criminal records. These archives give us valuable insights into historic crime, punishment and sometimes the daily lives of Somerset's people. Esther will delve into the archives and tell us all about Somerset's crime histories.
Taunton Castle is the perfect setting for such a talk as it has it's own rich history of crime and criminals. Did you know the Castle was used as a Pr*son and assize court for many centuries, and it was the scene of Henry VII’s interrogation of Perkin Warbeck following Warbeck’s attempt to claim the throne in 1497. The Castle now recently refurbished as the Museum of Somerset, still tells the county’s rich and remarkable story in the setting of one of its most important historic buildings.
Booking required, tickets £5.00 each. Tickets include tea and biscuits after the talk.
