About this Event
Rescheduled from May 2, 2020. All original tickets valid for new date.
One of Scotland’s most popular folk groups to emerge in the last decade, Talisk return to Glasgow in September 2020 - headlining the city’s stunning Saint Luke’s.
In their six years, the chart-topping, globetrotting trio have stacked up several major awards for their explosively energetic yet artfully woven sound, including the Belhaven Bursary for Innovation, Folk Band of the Year at the BBC Alba Scots Trad Music Awards, and a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award.
Mohsen Amini (BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards’ Musician of the Year 2018), Hayley Keenan and Graeme Armstrong fuse concertina, fiddle and guitar to produce a multi-layered, spectacularly enthralling signature that has effortlessly captivated audiences around the word.
Appearances at leading festivals - including closing out Saturday night’s main stage at the 2019 Cambridge Folk Festival, Denmark’s world-renowned Tønder Festival, the Rainforest World Music Festival in Malaysian Borneo, WOMAD UK and Las Palmas, two back-to-back years at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Edmonton Folk Festival, Milwaukee Irish Festival and five successive outings at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections - have amassed a die-hard following, whilst the folk and world music media have also lauded high credits upon the genre-bending, ground-breaking trio.
Their hotly anticipated second album, Beyond, quickly rose to No.1 in the iTunes world music charts upon its late 2018 release, and was met with a five-star ‘Top of the World’ review in leading world music magazine Songlines, who brilliantly summarised the band: “incredibly infectious and endearing… fresh, invigorating, accomplished and playfully frisky.”
