Tales from the Archives: The History of Citizenship

Join the Holland Museum and Zeeland Historical Society for a special Tales from the Archives program celebrating America 250 and uncovering the stories behind American citizenship; who was welcomed, who was excluded, and how the rules of belonging have changed over time. Through fascinating historical documents and stories, we’ll explore how changing ideas about citizenship reveal larger questions about identity, belonging, and what it means to be American.
The program will be led by Dr. Jeanne Petit, Betty Roelofs ’53 Miller Professor of History and Chair of the Department of History at Hope College.
