Tale for Two

Tale for Two is an extension of our Listening Ears Program which pairs a young reader with an animal to make the experience of reading more fun. By bringing the readers to our shelter, our adoptable cats, dogs and small animals get to benefit from the positive presence of a child, boosting confidence in both the pet and the person. This in-shelter reading program is open to youth ages 6-13, and visits take place on Monday afternoons between 4pm and 5pm.

Registrants have the option to purchase a single Tale for Two visit or can become a Tale for Two Club Member. A single visit registration is $7 and includes a book and a VBSPCA logo item . Tale for Two Club Memberships are $30 and receives 5 visits, VBSPCA swag, a book and VBSPCA logo item. To join, reserve your club membership during registration. Payment is due at the VBSPCA shelter front desk on the day of your visit. Register for free today!

Visits can be scheduled in advance, and children are invited to bring their own books, choose from the VBSPCA Library or read their new free book.

Please note, if you have more than 1 child "reader" in your party, you will need to register each child separately. Each child must have an adult stay with them during their visit. Max capacity is two children and one adult per reading space. Any children not registered will not be able to attend.
