Taking the Long View on Resistance and Resilience within Cultural Communities

Art Farm at West Dry Creek in Healdsburg, CA

Join us at the Art Farm in Healdsburg for a conversation and art sharing with Sonoma County culture bearers about how their perspectives and experiences can lead us in this moment.

During this time of palpable violence against many vulnerable communities, hear reflections about what resistance and resilience has looked like over decades in these communities. Culture bearers will share how cultural and traditional practices have been a source of survival and sustainability and continue to guide us today. Join the discussion with other culture bearers, community leaders and residents in the area.

In partnership with Latinos Unidos del Condado de Sonoma, we’ll hear from Ezekiel Guzman and Yolanda Giron about their Jardines del Pueblo projects and Ballet Folklorico Yolotl. We’ll also hear from traditional Pomo song keepers Bernadette Smith and Precious Thomas and Cambodian classical dancer Charya Burt.

  • Charya Cheam Burt, Cambodian Classical Dance

This event will be bilingual in English and Spanish. Refreshments will be served.

Parking: There is limited parking outside of the gate of the Art Farm on West Dry Creek Road. Please park there and walk in. Carpooling is also encouraged.
