Taking Steps to Cure Stomach Cancer
About this Event
In honor of Stomach Cancer Awareness Month (November), the second annual “Taking Steps to Cure Stomach Cancer,” walk will be taking place in Sayville, NY. This community led event aims to raise crucial funds for
Debbie’s Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer (DDF), a leading global non-profit organization connecting the stomach cancer community, driving collaboration among patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, and partners to improve outcomes and save lives. The walk is especially meaningful to the local community, as a Sayville resident, Amanda Johnson, needed to have her entire stomach removed due to a hereditary stomach cancer in 2017. She has become a fierce and passionate advocate for the foundation. Her ongoing, daily struggles fuel her commitment to support her community and Debbie’s Dream Foundation. With a rise in stomach cancer cases, we need to do our part to find a cure, so that our neighbors are safe. DDF wants to build a future where stomach cancer can be detected earlier among at-risk populations, including our military personnel and veterans. There is a need to accelerate the process of advanced research, innovation, and collaboration to improve outcomes. They understand the importance of connecting the stomach cancer community of patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, and partners to improve outcomes and save lives.
