Taking It To The Streets - A Street and Environmental Photography Workshop

Street photography really comes down to immersing yourself in your environment so you can capture life as it unfolds around you. While roaming around everywhere from Seattle's tourist spots to its local haunts, we will be learning about the techniques that will help you get better shots when wandering the streets with your camera.

We will be based out of the amazing Seattle Central Library for this workshop. We have a meeting room set aside to start our journey with a class on street photography. This will help to better acquaint you with what street photography is, and also with some of the techniques to get the shots you want. The click of the shutter isn't the end of image creation, it's just the beginning. After our first field session, we will return to the classroom to look at a few of the images and see what we can do to improve on them. I will walk you through my workflow and editing process in Adobe Lightroom. At the end of our time together, we will return to the classroom for a final edit and critique session. Although a laptop with Lightroom loaded on it is highly recommended, there are ways to work around this if needed.

As with any workshop, you can't control the weather. Luckily, if we have any rainy days, most of Seattle's population is unphased and we will be able to explore the city as planned. Please plan on being out rain or shine.
