Jefferson Airplane, formed in 1965 in San Francisco, was one of the seminal bands of the 1960s counterculture movement. They are best known for their psychedelic rock sound that encapsulated the spirit of the era. Key members included Grace Slick, Marty Balin, Paul Kantner, Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, and Spencer Dryden. Their groundbreaking album "Surrealistic Pillow" featured hits like "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit," which became anthems of the Summer of Love. Jefferson Airplane's performance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969 cemented their place in rock history. The band later evolved into Jefferson Starship in the 1970s.
