The Kiwanis Club of St. Joseph, MO is once again partnering with the Ali Kemp Foundation and the YWCA of St. Joseph to offer the 10th Annual TAKE Defense Training course to empower local women ages 12 and up with effective self-defense strategies and techniques.
In the wake of their daughter’s horrific death while working at a pool in their hometown, Roger and Kathy Kemp created a program to forever carry on Ali’s legacy and prevent this tragedy from reoccurring. In 2005, TAKE Defense was founded by the Kemp family with the goal of providing FREE, hands-on self-defense training.
In keeping with the Ali Kemp Foundation’s goal of providing free training, there is no charge to attend TAKE Defense.
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the Brookdale Student Ministry building in St. Joseph, MO. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration is encouraged and event t-shirts and totes can be purchased for a donation through September 30th (to be picked up at the event).
