About this Event

Gather, Read, and Celebrate in Community!

Celebrate Indigenous People Month with an afternoon dedicated to local Native literature, storytelling, movement, Native snacks and community connection! Located right in the heart of Downtown Saint Paul inside the Skyway, the Indigenous Book Parade puts local Native authors such as Blue Hummingbird Woman front and center.

This interactive, family-friendly gathering is built around bringing stories off the page and into the Skyway for readers of all ages.

What to Expect:
  • Native Authors & Books: Discover vibrant books written by Indigenous authors and illustrators. Shop local vendors and take home your favorite stories!
  • Interactive Storytime: Gather round for a story read by a Native elder, a community read-aloud, and walk through an interactive story.
  • Book-Themed Activities: Hands-on crafts and activities directly tied to the themes and stories highlighted throughout the event. Create your own snack box with traditional native foods.
  • Warm Community Space: Enjoy a welcoming space rain or shine to learn, connect, and share together.

Bring your family, invite a neighbor, and celebrate local Native literature with us!
