ETWA, founded by Australian women in solidarity with Timor-Leste, is collaborating with the Burke Gallery at Trinity College, the University of Melbourne on the Tais, Culture & Resilience Exhibition and Symposium.

Curated by Ben Thomas (Burke Gallery) Trinity College, University of Melbourne, the exhibition features ETWA’s outstanding collection of handwoven Tais from the eastern tip of Timor-Leste, celebrating generations of cultural knowledge, creativity, and strength. These stunning textiles are showcased alongside the beautiful photographic work of Elaine Briere, Sally Gray, and Ross Bird. The work illustrates how Tais are woven, used, and celebrated, and how the women and the Tais have endured extreme adversity to become symbols of indigenous resilience and hope for the future.
