Participation in organised sport has many benefits – both physical and social. Despite this, a significant number of girls drop out during their teenage years, and by 18 years of age, just 33 per cent regularly play sport.
Join us for an insightful panel discussion exploring the barriers to participation that girls face in our local community and ways we can better support their continued involvement in sport.
Featuring:
Sharelle McMahon, former Australian Diamonds captain and Netball Victoria general manager, high performance and pathways; Amy Holmes, Maribyrnong Sports Academy athlete wellbeing coordinator and high-performance preparation coach; and Dr Kay Copeland, specialist sports physiotherapist.
This event is a joint initiative of Kensington Junior Netball Club, Essendon Netball Club and Aberfeldie Netball Club, supported by a community grant from Moonee Valley City Council.
