We’re excited to announce the opening of Austin’s first seven-day-a-week non-alcoholic bar, Taano House. Located on East 6th Street, Taano House aims to revolutionize the non-alcoholic space by offering carefully-curated botanical drinks that promote relaxation, euphoria, and sociability without the hangover, malaise, or negative health effects of alcohol. Taano House will offer customers true alternatives to alcohol! Our menu features thoughtfully-chosen botanicals that have been enjoyed for millennia around the world—plants like kava, kanna, Amanita muscaria, and blue lotus. We will also carry many of the leading non-alcoholic beers, wines, spirits, and extracts. Taano House will serve as a unique destination for adventurous drinkers and anyone seeking an alternative to social drinking as usual.
Geoff Smith and Joe West met at a public lecture Geoff gave at UT Austin in November 2022. Quickly becoming friends, they bonded over a shared dream of discovering, experiencing, and making readily available true alcohol alternatives. They decided to turn this common interest into a business (Taano Elevated Beverages) in December 2023 and spent the first months of 2024 doing pop-up markets throughout Austin. They spent countless hours researching botanicals to find safe and legal plants that could serve as alternatives to alcohol. Taano House, which opens August 15 on E. 6th Street, is Taano Elevated Beverages’ first physical location. Taano House embodies the dream of Taano Elevated Beverages by rethinking what social drinking and nightlife can be. We have drawn upon ancient botanical wisdom and the best modern science to create a fresh way of social drinking that works for those seeking to live a healthy lifestyle. Throughout the year we plan to host a wide variety of events from academic lectures to DJs sets, all designed to elevate the mind and promote genuine connections.
