2023 marks the 30th anniversary of Great Big Sea, one of Canada’s favourite bands, and founding member Séan McCann will be celebrating the legend & the legacy right across the country. Singalong with “the shantyman” as he sails us back in time through hilarious stories and foot stomping traditional favourites to the brighter bays of his native Newfoundland. This is the only “tribute show” you need to see this decade and a nostalgic tip of the hat to the shared history of a truly iconic Canadian band.
Known as co-founder of Canadian folk rock band Great Big Sea, Séan McCann, has since released six successful solo albums, including his latest SHANTYMAN. This new album features sing-along songs that honour both the recent and the ancient musical past by blending two of McCann’s favourite genres in foot stompers guaranteed to lift spirits.

L’année 2023 marque le 30e anniversaire de Great Big Sea, l’un des groupes les plus populaires au Canada, et le membre fondateur Séan McCann entend célébrer sa légende et son legs partout au pays. Venez chanter avec le « shantyman », qui nous fera voyager dans le temps avec des histoires hilarantes et des succès traditionnels à faire taper du pied jusque dans les baies radieuses de Terre-Neuve, d’où il est originaire. Ce sera le seul « spectacle hommage » de la décennie à voir, un événement qui se veut un coup de chapeau nostalgique à l’histoire commune d’un groupe canadien véritablement emblématique.
Cofondateur du groupe de folk rock canadien Great Big Sea, Séan McCann a depuis sorti six albums solos couronnés de succès, dont le tout dernier est intitulé SHANTYMAN. Ce nouvel album d’airs à chanter en chœur rend hommage au passé musical récent et plus ancien, en fusionnant deux des genres préférés de Séan McCann dont le côté entraînant ne manque pas de remonter le moral.
