About this Event

An Evening with Tania Montahuano: Guayusa Tea Circle & Dream Sharing

Join Amazonian Sápara healer and artisan Tania Montahuano for an intimate evening of storytelling, tradition, and dreaming.

Tania will share the story of her community and how Sápara Women Dream jewelry came to fruition, guiding us through the process of creating each piece and the meaning carried within this work.

Guayusa is a caffeinated plant native to the Amazon whose leaves are traditionally brewed as tea. For generations, it has held an important place in the daily and cultural life of Indigenous communities in the Ecuadorian Amazon, including practices connected to gathering, storytelling, and dreams. During this evening, Tania will share guayusa through the traditions and knowledge of her own Sápara community.

The evening will continue with a traditional guayusa tea circle, a practice shared within her community for generations. We will drink this warm tea together and create space to speak our dreams aloud.

We invite you to join the circle: sip guayusa with us, listen, and share a dream of your own, in the spirit of a tradition the Sápara people have carried across generations.

By joining us and contributing, you are supporting the dreams of young girls in Tania’s community and helping provide Sápara women with the tools and materials they need to continue their craft, sustain their families, and carry their culture and knowledge into the next generation.

Come listen, connect, and dream together.

Ven a escuchar, conectar y soñar juntos.
