SYP Summer Hike w/ Green Mountain Club

SYP is proud to co-host another guided group hike with the amazing folks at Green Mountain Club – this time at the beautiful Hopkins Memorial Forest in Williamstown MA.
Please note that we will be meeting in Bennington at the Rec Center at 9:15AM to organize a carpool, as parking at the Forest lot is limited. We'll plan to start our hike around 10AM, and the hike itself will take about two hours.
We'll be following the main forest loop, a figure-eight trail covering 4.2 miles with an elevation change of 600 feet. This is an easy to moderate hike which takes us through this former farmland, with mixed hardwood forest, streams, a functional vegetable and herb garden, and a number of field research projects conducted by Williams College Environmental Studies students.
The Rosenberg Center near the parking lot will be open, providing bathrooms and water fountains.
Wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes, and bring water, snacks, sun protection (lotion, hat, sunglasses) and bug spray.
This event is open to the public – not just SYP members!
Our rain date will be Sunday, July 12, at the same time and meeting place as noted above. A message will be sent if we need to cancel :)
