About this Event
Synoptic Frequencies returns with for an 11th edition of sound art and experimental music in unique spaces--for this iteration, we'll be back at MaTovu, an inclusive Jewish space in St. Louis City housed in a former synagogue.

Maria Chavez is a Lima-born, NYC-based turntablist, sound artist and DJ--one of the foremost representatives of contemporary experimental turntablism. Her unique performances use fragments of broken records and a custom double needle to create otherworldly fragments of sound and texture.
Eddie Breitweiser is an Illinois-based artist, musician, electronic instrument builder, and writer. Breitweiser organizes particulars (modular synthesizers, custom software, handmade electronics, audio/visual signals, text, networked distribution channels, improvisational music, performative activities) into arrangements whose products are the macro-result of the emergent interactions of all components at once.
Christopher Douthitt is a lecturer in electronic music at Washington University in St Louis, where he teaches classes in synthesis, sound art, digital music composition, and songwriting. As a composer, Douthitt designs interactive environments for mixed electroacoustic groups, writes words and music for voices, and composes concert pieces for traditional acoustic ensembles.
