Symphonic Beats is back! After an incredible first concert, Dr. Kandace “DC” Lavender, Yolonda Lavender & Soul Artistry, and the Kalamazoo Symphony are coming back together to celebrate Hip Hop Culture.
The heart and soul of Hip Hop fuse with the sounds of classical music to celebrate the rich history of Hip Hop. Symphonic Beats honors Hip Hop as an artistic movement, centering the contributions of African American voices within this cultural phenomenon. Local artists take the stage for cyphers, dance, spoken word, original music, and artistry, all backed by the DC Quintet and Symphony musicians.
