Moving to Sydney can feel exciting, confusing, and overwhelming all at once.
This monthly newcomer night exists to make the city feel a little less intimidating, a lot more welcoming, and completely human.
🌟 What Makes This Different?
Most meetups are just generic bar small talk ("Where are you from? How long are you here for?").
Here, every session centers around one short, real-life story from someone who arrived in Australia just like you, faced the exact same struggles, and eventually "got there."
- No formal lectures, stages, or sales pitches. Just 10 minutes of real talk around the table to spark conversations.
- This Month’s Guest: Starting out in Sydney’s hospitality scene how they landed their first job, navigated the RSA hustle, and settled in.
🍻 What to Expect
- 5:30 PM: Arrive, grab a drink or snack, and say hi.
- 6:00 PM: Short 10-minute guest story + Q&A.
- 6:15 PM – Onwards: Open social time! Ask all your practical questions (housing, White Card, RSA, farm work, or local spots) and make real friends.
👥 Who Is This For?
- Backpackers, Working Holiday Visa holders, international students, and anyone brand new to Sydney.
- Coming alone? 100% yes! Most people come solo. We make sure everyone gets introduced and feels welcome the second they walk in.

About the organiser:
I came to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa from Germany, worked multiple jobs, and eventually became a citizen. I started this newcomer night because I remember exactly how overwhelming those first months felt and I wanted to create the kindof welcoming space I wish I had back then
