Sydney Inspired Conversations - Trust, Verified
About this Event
Trust, Verified
Hosted by Westpac
Trust is the currency of the digital economy, and right now it is under real pressure. We're being asked to trust AI-generated content that we cannot always verify, navigate cyber threats that grow more sophisticated every month, and hold onto trust with employers during a wave of redundancies that has hit women in digital and technology roles hard.
Trust, Verified brings together expert voices from cyber security, AI, workplace culture and governance to give our community practical, human answers to a question everyone is asking: what can I actually trust right now, and what do I do about it?
Meet the Panel:
Speakers will be announced soon.
Key Themes
1. Building trust online with peers and friends
Trust between people online, in group chats, community spaces and social platforms, is quietly being tested. This theme looks at how we can build and protect genuine trust with the people we choose to connect with, even as scams, impersonation and misinformation make that harder.
2. Content interrogation: what you can and can't trust online
Not everything that looks credible is credible. This theme will provide a practical framework for interrogating content, from news and research to social posts and forwarded messages, before they believe or share it.
3. Cyber threats
Cyber crime is increasingly personal, targeting individuals through phishing, impersonation and social engineering as much as it targets organisations. This theme keeps the conversation grounded in what we can actually do, at home and at work.
4. AI content validation: building healthy scepticism
AI generated content is now part of daily life, from images and video to writing and code. This theme is about building a healthy, sustainable scepticism, one that keeps people curious and capable rather than anxious or checked out.
5. Trust with your employer in this climate of redundancies
Redundancies have shaken trust between employees and employers across digital and technology roles, and women have been disproportionately affected. This theme speaks directly to that experience, and what rebuilding trust at work can look like from both sides.
6. The governance you need to put in place
Trust is not just a feeling, it is something you can build structure around. This theme moves from the personal to the practical, covering the governance individuals and organisations can put in place to protect trust before it is tested.
