Good morning! Our Sycamore Trail Public Fruit Orchard Planting Day is finally here! Please join us for this historic moment in West Sacramento Rotary history! Never before has a local Rotary Club taken on an effort like this - we wrote a grant to enable us to buy and plant 100 public access fruit trees to be planted along the Sycamore Trail in the heart of West Sacramento. The orchard will be managed for the next 10 years by Center for Land-Based Learning's Urban Farmers. The irrigation for the trees is being installed this week. 400 yards of compost are being delivered to the site. On Thursday, October 31 from 8:30am to Noon - 100 fruit trees will be delivered to the site. We need help unloading these trees to prepare for our planting day. On Saturday, November 2 from 8:00 am to 3 pm we will be planting the 100 trees into pre-dug holes, adding compost and a pole if needed. Coffee, breakfast snacks, and lunch will be provided. Please wear clothes to work in and closed toed shoes are required.If you have questions, please call me at 916.806.6438.
