Join Team Sycamore for our Ladies Day Event on Saturday 24th August from 10am until 4pm.☀️Women have been involved in motorcycling for over a century, but men have predominantly dominated this leisure activity. Despite being the fastest-growing group in motorcycling, female riders still make up a significantly smaller part of the community. Our Sycamore Ladies’ Day is all about encouraging female riders to take to the roads confidently and banishing the stereotypes with an opportunity to grow your confidence and advance your riding skills with the support of PECAM, Cambs Police Bike Safe and Rolling Road Experience. We have a special guest who has been described as one of a select band of bold women to ride a motorcycle around the world. Lone Rider’s Elspeth Beard will be joining us to talk about all things riding.
Elspeth Beard made history in the early 1980s as the first British woman to ride a motorcycle around the world solo. Her epic journey on a BMW R 60/6 took her across continents, through diverse cultures, and over countless miles of open road. With her inspiring story and wealth of experience, Elspeth will be sharing valuable insights and tales from her remarkable adventure during our event.
The team at PECAM (Peterborough and Cambridgeshire Advanced Motorcyclists) are a local Road Safety Charity, that makes the highways and byways safer by offering the full range of IAM Roadsmart advanced motorcycle packages, as well as a wide range of other advanced skills and motorcycle handling training. The PECAM team will have a gazebo at our Event on hand to discuss all things advanced riding, showcasing the courses they offer. You can also benefit from an exclusive Sycamore discount for ladies who book an IAM course with the PECAM team on the day, at our Ladies Day Event.
Cambs Police Bike Safe Team will be offering Ladies & Gents attending our event the opportunity to go out on local roads for a one-on-one assessed ride, there is usually a cost for this service however the Cambs Police Bike Safe Team are delighted to support The Sycamore Ladies Day in offering this completely free of charge on the day! The assessed rides will be conducted on a mixture of roads in our local area, covering all riding scenarios and will last between 30 – 40 minutes. We are also really looking forward to having Emily from Cambs Police Bike Safe in attendance, Emily is the only female Police Motorcyclist in three counties and will be available throughout the day to share her wealth of riding experience with our female riders.
The BMW Rider Training Programme will be here with the Rolling Road Experience. A perfect induction to riding using the BMW G 310 R, you’ll learn the basics of throttle and clutch control on the innovative Rolling Road under the expert guidance of the instructors. This is perfect for beginners or those wanting to start their two-wheel journey!
Most motorcycles are designed for taller and heavier riders, posing difficulties for many women starting. The lack of safe and appropriate clothing tailored to female shapes not only deters women from riding but also comprises their safety. That’s why, during our Sycamore Motorrad’s Ladies’ Day, demonstrator bikes with low seat heights will be available to test ride and plenty of protective and comfortable gear are available to purchase from Lisa!
Any great Sycamore Event comes with lots of delicious food cooked up in the Twisted Throttle. Throughout our Ladies’ Day Event, you can stay fueled for plenty of riding with a tasty breakfast bap in the morning and a BBQ in the afternoon. All our donations from the Twisted Throttle go towards the East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity and so far we’ve raised £4,673.42!
The Sycamore Team are looking forward to welcoming you to our second annual Ladies’ Day Event, our very own Lisa and Sophie both learnt how to ride with the BMW Rider Training Programme and will be around throughout the event to discuss their journey from Rookie to Rider! Gents you are, of course, very welcome on the day!
Sycamore are proud to be hosting an event aimed at ladies and growing our local female riding community! We would be delighted to welcome female riding groups to our Ladies Day Event and if there are ladies out there who are not currently riders but are considering learning to ride, it would be great to see you there!
