About this Event
You're invited. Bring your child for an afternoon of play and fun inside the TK/kindergarten classroom. Join our Kindergarten teacher and experience the magic of Waldorf education firsthand.
What is Waldorf Education?
Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner created the Waldorf curriculum in response to the limited educational opportunities available to children from poor and working-class families in the early 20th century. Steiner's was one of several international movements that aimed to advance more organic educational opportunities than were offered by the widely implemented factory model of education. Waldorf education integrates the arts in all academic disciplines for children from preschool through 12th grade to enhance and enrich learning, focusing on a “whole child” philosophy. Sycamore Creek believes children need to remain children for as long as possible and not grow up too fast. This pedagogy allows for natural, developmentally appropriate education that both broadens and enriches the minds of all students.
Students will develop strong skills in reading, writing, and computing, as well as the ability to think critically, communicate empathetically, and solve problems. Every student from 1st grade on is immersed deeply in music, the arts, and foreign language. All learn to play an instrument, are exposed to world languages, engage in visual and performing arts (drama, music, choir), and celebrate the diversity in the community.
The Sycamore Creek Community Charter School’s Mission is to educate students so they:
● think critically and independently while recognizing humanity’s interdependence with the local and global community ● strive to control the outcome of their educational goals ● stay committed to engaging the people, places, and learning opportunities around them to direct their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth ● value differences in others by responding with empathy and ● see challenges as a natural part of life and an opportunity for growth.
We are now accepting students for grades TK through 8th. It is our hope that 9th grade will be available beginning in the 2027-2028 school year.
