Sycamore Assembly English Country Dance

English country dance (ECD) is a traditional, social folk dance that incorporates many dancers and can take place in long columns of couples, smaller sets of 2–4 couples, or in circles and squares. It's similar to American square and contra dancing, but with more variety in figures and music.

There is no fancy footwork needed and the steps are extremely easy: it’s essentially walking through space in patterns or “figures.”

Every dance is taught and prompted by a caller, and no prior knowledge is necessary. It is not necessary to come with a partner; experienced dancers partner with newcomers, and partners change throughout the program.
