The Manchester SWOUK Crew, in conjunction with BeeZouk-Manchester, are proud to announce our latest venture into the “Swoukiverse”! Join us at Studio Bee for a fun fuelled weekend of Brazilian Zouk, West Coast Swing & SWOUK workshops and parties which taking place from Friday 30th September Saturday thru to Sunday 2nd October at Studio Bee right here in the heart of Manchester. Yes, indeed dear SWOUKie people, we definitely have a treat in store!
The phenomenal duo currently setting the Brazilian Zouk scene across Europe aflame, Oeslle & Ola, will be on hand to hone and polish our Zouk skills via four hours of Brazilian Zouk focused workshops.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! Thru-out the course of the weekend we will be treated to a further two hours of Brazilian Zouk workshops from two stalwarts of the UK scene, the fabulous Jenny (Zouk Cambridge) & the, equally fabulous, Josh (Zouk Birmingham).
But this is a SWOUK event I hear you cry! Fear not my friends, our amazing WCS duo Masha & Rostik will be on hand to add the WCS ingredient to the SWOUK recipe, with two hours of WCS focused workshops sprinkled across the weekend.
And as if this wasn’t already an astonishing line up, and to top it all off and place the final cherry on top of that “SWOUK-Cake”, we have the pleasure to announce that the exceptional Kristine Krosi will be rounding off the weekend by treating us to two hours of SWOUK (WCS & Zouk) focused workshops!
And of course, we will have lots of opportunity to put our learning to the test during our social parties!
Needless to say that with the array of teaching talent on hand these workshops, and parties, are appropriate to everyone, regardless of prior dance experience.

About your instructors:
Oeslle & Ola:
Oeslle is originally from Brazil and specialized in teaching Brazilian Zouk and Lambada. Prior to these dances, he has trained danca de salao (Forró, Bolero, Samba), Bachata, and Kizomba. In 2017, He joined the studio Barracão da Dança where he was trained by Daniel Darbello, Matheus Franco, and Nina Darbello. Once in Europe, he was trained by Renato Veronezzi, Pedrinho Mattos, Linda Mattos, and other several artists by taking private classes. Oeslle loves competitions and performances. He has been part of 4 Brazilian Zouk performance teams and placed in several competitions both strictly and Jack and Jill’s.
Ola is a Brazilian Zouk and Lambada instructor, dancer with over 18 years of experience in dancing, including ballroom, bachata and salsa. Ola loves the process of improving the dance by learning other dance styles, as well as taking up new challenges, such as Jack & Jill competitions - she has won 1st place in the Intermediate category at the Brazilian Dance Festival 2022 in Amsterdam, 3rd place at the Warsaw Zouk Festival 2022. Since 2021, she has been a certified Brazilian zouk instructor by the methodology of Alex de Carvalho. She is a member of the WARSAW ZOUK COMPANY, whose show was presented at the largest festivals in Europe - Madrid Zouk Bachata Congress, ZoukTime Brno, Warsaw BRASIL Festival. She is a physiotherapist by profession, which is why she pays attention to conscious and safe work with the body.
Kristīne:
Kristīne Krosi is a world renowned dance instructor specialising in Brazilian zouk and west coast swing. She is known for her technical and multi-dimensional teaching that transcends style and pattern work. Her focus is on building movement repertoire and awareness, increasing communication in connection, and responding authentically to the structural makeup of music theory. Her approach is enhanced by her training and practise in Dance Movement Psychotherapy, a field of art therapy which uses the body and movement as a resource for processing life’s trials and tribulations. In total Kristine has been dancing for 32 years, teaching/coaching for 12 years, won and placed in multiple competitions, and toured to 14 countries worldwide.
Maria & Rostislav:
Maria Podolskaia started to dance West Coast Swing in 2012. She left Russia for Italy in 2013 where she taught West Coast Swing for 4 years and organized the first official Italian WCS-event, the “Italian Open”, which then became a regular event in Italy for a number of years. During 2017 she returned to Russia and in 2018 started to teach WCS, together with her partner Rostislav Torgovnikov, in the Lysoborye – Moscow Dance School. Together they entered the “Jack n’ Jill” at the 2019 Russian Open, performing a WCS dance routine, taking first place at the biggest WCS competition in Russia. For all of her life Maria has passionate about dance, and has train for ten years in ballroom dancing in addition to practicing Discofox for two years. Maria is smitten with the fun, freedom and joy that is inherent in West Coast Swing and is always eager to share her passion for this dance.
Rostislav started dancing in 2012. His first dance was Discofox, which he enjoyed for the first two years of his dance journey. But then everything changed when he came across a video of Tatjana Mollman and Jordan Frisbee on YouTube. From this moment on he fell “head over heals” in love with WCS. For Rostislav, dancing is a means for fitness, maintaining his mood and keeping his spirit high whilst providing an opportunity to know himself better.
Josh:
Joshua (Josh) Wengraf began his dance career in 2013, joining the Andrew and Amy Dance School in Manchester. He trained for 5 years in Ballroom and Latin Dancing before joining the La Suerte and Latino Euphoria social dance community. After studying with top Brazilian Zouk-Lambada Teachers in Rio, Sao Paulo, Porto Seguro, and Europe, he is back with a mission bringing people together through the medium of dance.
Jenny:
Jenny Cousins is an experienced Brazilian Zouk teacher, originally from Sheffield, who now lives and teaches in Cambridge and the surrounding area. She is passionate about sharing her love for the dance with anyone who will listen! As well as teaching classes, she organises regular Zouk events with guest teachers in Cambridge for the growing Zouk community there.

MUSIC:
We will be playing a balanced mix of WCS & Zouk(able) music at the parties. Do you have your favourite music that you would like to dance to during the parties? "We have an App for that"! Bring it with you, on any of your devices, and DJ RHINO will ensure that you will be able to play them. Requests are always very welcome ?

VENUE - STUDIO BEE:
If you have never been to Studio Bee before, you can find the entrance to the building from Little Lever Street/Faraday Street (which is the official address of the Studio Bee), where you will find a passageway between two buildings on your right-hand side. There is a “hidden door” on the right-hand side which is the entrance. The studio is located on the top floor.

COVID POLICY:
Please consider taking a lateral flow test on the day of dancing, and if it is positive, do not attend (and contact Dominic Dempsey - while we can't guarantee it, where we can, we will give a refund). Most people will be rotating partners, but you are welcome to bring a partner and remain dancing with them if preferred.
