🔸 INTRODUCTION TO SWORD TECHNIQUE
Nothing makes a dancer feel as badass as holding a sword! But it's also a prop that requires special care and respect from practitioners.
Agata will break down the most important aspects of sword dancing, like handling and safety, injury prevention, grips and positions: free position, arm position, balanced position and hand position, as well as transitions between them. We will also cover useful tips for sword balancing, as well as Agata's approach to building a personal relationship with the sword. You will be ready to begin a conscious sword practice that will lead you to feeling confident and empowered in your dance!
For anyone at least intermediate in any bellydance style.
15:15-17:15 CET
🔸 “THREE SISTERS” FUSION CHOREOGRAPHY WITH SWORD
You will learn a full 4min choreo to one of Beats Antique's most iconic songs. This choreo became such a hit immediately after posting - and we are thrilled to give you another opportunity to learn it!
Agata seamlessly blending fusion technique and FCBD Style elements in a way that's accessible to practitioners of either style. The choreography includes various sword positions and grips that will be explained in detail, some sword balancing and a few challenging but exciting sword tricks!
There are variations given to accommodate different body capabilities.
For anyone familiar with the basics of sword technique. Participation in the technique workshops is recommended for anyone who doesn't consider themselves experienced with swords.
Suitable for Fusion Bellydance and FCBD Style dancers!

MEET YOUR TEACHER:
Hi, my name is Agata and I'm a dancer with over 20 years of in depth practice in various styles of bellydance under my belt. I'm a jack of all trades, continuously practicing raqs sharqi and folklore, fusion bellydance, FCBD Style and The Siren Project of which I am the co-creator (manton format).
I'm based in Warsaw, Poland, but teaching dance has brought me around the world!
My teaching style combines humour with nerdy technique and anatomy explanations.
Being able to break down movements in a cohesive way and create a great classroom a
atmosphere for my students is something I am known for, with equal attention given to online participants to provide a great experience for them. I have been teaching fully hybrid since 2020.
Props are my passion! I dance with just about every possible prop and teach most of them, which gives me a unique understanding of the mechanics, techniques, aesthetic, dynamics behind various types of props, as well as multiple improvisational dialects and formats.
I have been dancing with a sword since 2013, teaching first regular sword classes in Warsaw (possibly in Poland). I kept studying (with Melody's Sacred Sword dialect being my main focus) as well as exploring and experimenting with swords, utilising them in group improv as well as in fusion choreographies. I had the absolute pleasure of preparing multiple group sword performances and projects.
My credentials include:
-Bachelor's degree in Choreography and Dance Technique from Music Academy in Łódź
-Certified sports dance instructor (specialty: bellydance)
-Certified Academic Teacher Training in Berlin
-FCBD Style Certified Studio + Technique for Teachers courses
-Dance Therapeutics with Deb Rubin
-Alignment with DeAnna Freeman
-Dancecraft certified (Diamonds and Spades) with Zoe Jakes
…and much more!
More importantly, I have dedicated my life to teaching dance full time since 2010, pioneering FCBD Style classes in Warsaw and bringing hundreds of students into this beautiful style and other bellydance styles - and happily witnessing many of my students proceed to start their troupes or begin teaching.
Being a dedicated teacher, choreographer and competition judge in traditional raqs sharqi, I make sure that even my fusion students are aware of the cultural roots of what they're learning.
I can't wait to share my passion and to see you grow into a fierce sword dancer!
