We are bringing SWISHING to Wilmslow!What it is:
Swishing is a sustainable and social activity where people exchange clothing, shoes, and accessories with friends or acquaintances.
How it works:
Participants bring items they no longer want or need, and then they are free to choose items they like from what others have offered, without having to pay for them.
Here are Transition Wilmslow we are all about helping you to tread lightly on the planet, and a huge part of that is not buying new when you don't need to. We will be promoting the joy of swapping, upcycling and mending, and NOT spending money.
Do you have things in your wardrobe you don't wear?
We are asking you to bring along 3 or 4 good quality, clean items of clothes you don't want anymore, and you will be given the equivalent number of tokens which you can exchange these for new (to you) items.
We are accepting women's clothes and accessories and jewelry. We will have a table and for accessories and two clothes rails where the clothes will be laid out in size order.
EVERYTHING IS FREE.
We will also have some local students there talking about the environmental catastrophe of fast fashion, and a few little posters around the stall to give you the hard facts.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - would you like to help with the swapping, helping the stall look gorgeous and funky, talking to people about the beauty of swapping and not buying new, and maybe upcycling and repairing/visible mending the things we have? Please get in touch.
Clothes left at the end of the stall will be donated to Oxfam Wilmslow.
