Jumptown Big Band presents "Swinging Into Fall" - a swing dance event on Saturday October 8 2022 at the Multnomah Arts Center Auditorium. Beginner dance lesson starts at 7:00pm with live music from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. This venue has a large dance floor and plenty of parking. We are excited to bring back our yearly event at the arts center after suspending it the past couple of years during the pandemic. The dance will focus on swing dance music from a variety of well-known big bands such as Count Basie and Woody Herman. The dance is for dancers of all ages and skill levels. A half-hour beginner dance lesson will be provided by professional dance instructor Mindy Barnhart of Stumptown Dance to allow new swing dancers the opportunity to learn some steps and perhaps provide seasoned dancers with a brush up on the basics. Portland's leading big band singer Claudia Knauer will be performing some exciting vocal arrangements. We hope you can join us for an evening of energetic swing dance music performed by some of the area's top big band musicians. Tickets $15 at the door.
