💃 Friday Night Dance Lesson (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM) - $50/person ($100/couple) at the door
*Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in and settle in.
🕺 Saturday Night Roaring 20s Live Jazz Swing Dance (7:00 PM - 10:00 PM) - $20/person at the door

✅ If you’ve attended a one-night lesson with us recently, this will be “Part B”—a continuation of our beginner lesson. While we’ll review the basic step and inside turn, we’ll also introduce brand-new moves!
What We Teach
Our style is a simplified, 4-count, 4-step East Coast variation of swing. This style is common in the Midwest and has therefore been coined as "Midwest Swing Dancing". It is easy to pick up and accessible to all levels of dance experience. If you can count to four, you can dance!
Meet Your Instructors
Courtney Johnson, your follow instructor, is a professional photographer at Aesthetic Essence Photography. She has been dancing for over 20 years, with 10 years of swing dance experience. Courtney began dancing at Robin’s School of Dance in the third grade, later becoming captain of her dance team at Western Christian. She fell in love with swing dancing while learning at the Dordt University Club and hasn’t stopped since!
Marcus Johnson, your lead instructor, is Courtney’s husband. He works at Schiebout Window & Door and builds handcrafted woodworking projects on the side. Marcus learned to dance from Courtney early in their relationship in 2019 and has been dancing ever since!
Our goal is to give dancers of all levels the confidence to swing dance socially! We’ll teach you the 4-count basic step, leading & following techniques, and fun moves like turns, tricks, and dips.
What to Wear
👟 Friday Night Class: Dress up or dress down—whatever you’re comfortable in! Keep in mind we’ll be moving and possibly breaking a sweat.
🎩 Saturday Night Dance: We recommend dressing up! Since it’s a Roaring '20s-themed event, feel free to go all out or simply opt for semi-formal attire.
Who Can Join?
This class is open to all ages and experience levels—no dance background required! It’s perfect for singles and couples. If needed, we’ll rotate partners so everyone gets a chance to dance.
