Our second Swindon Growers Summit is a chance to get together with like-minded gardeners, allotment growers and soil lovers from Swindon and beyond.We're delighted to be hosting speakers to share their knowledge and experience along with community stands, retail stalls, live music and a compost testing station thanks to our local expert Eddie from Rhizophyllia!
There will be plenty of time for your questions, mixing with other growers and sharing your own experience. Plus we've got some special extra's (see below*).
Keynote speakers
Ben Raskin, currently Head of Horticulture and Agroforestry at the Soil Association. As well as Chairing the CSA Network UK Ben also sits on the boards of the Organic Growers Alliance and the Farm Woodland Forum. He has such a huge wealth of experience including working for Garden Organic at their gardens in Kent, setting up and running the 10-acre horticultural production at Daylesford Organic Farm and most recently project managing an agroforestry planting at Helen Browning’s farm in Wiltshire. Ben will be talking to us about ways to look after a growing spaces as well our own mental health through horticulture.
Lynda Warren 'Herbs: From sowing and growing to harvesting' Following a quick introduction into the history and geography of herbs, I explore why we should all be growing our own, and how a beginner can get started with little cost and effort. From tools to sowing and planting out, I cover herbs in general with a more detailed look at four specific varieties.

Get your questions ready, we are very excited to have Jamie from Blacklands Organics answering your vegetable growing questions, Alan Holland our local plantsman and Eddie Bailey discussing your compost queries!
Shumei Natural Agriculture will be discussing the benefits of growing your own food not only for your health but your mental and spiritual being as well. They will give a brief insight into the practises they use which has had guaranteed success, especially when overcoming blight or other garden pests.
COMMUNITY SHOWCASE
We've selected 3 local community projects each to give a short lowdown on their projects, what they've achieve and how you can get involved.
Music interludes by Athena Aperta, a now local musicial of national interest with a voice from the heavens. Athena likes to end the event by creating a song on the spot incorporating words selected by the audience. Not to be missed!
