Swimwear Special! Dressmaking - Single Day Class

This one-day class will give you the perfect introduction to making swimwear. If you are trying to get started with a project, but need a bit of a boost to get going then this class is just what you need to build your confidence.

We will teach you everything you need to know to get started including:

• how to correctly understand a pattern booklet
• accurately measure yourself
• choose a size
• trace your pattern
• grade/adjust for height where necessary
• Choose the correct stitch for sewing Swim fabric
• Choose the correct needle for sewing Swim fabric
  

Then we will teach you some of the basic sewing techniques you may need to use when making your own swimwear, depending on the needs of your pattern, including:

• sewing in bra cups
• sewing in power mesh
• adding clear elastic into seams
• sewing in bra/bikini clasps

Feel free to join us for one session, or come back for further sessions(standard dressmaking - single day class), it’s entirely up to you. If you would like some help picking a suitable pattern and fabric, then our staff in the Ipswich store will be more than happy to help guide you. A simple pattern is best for this class if you want to get it finished within the day. If you cannot finish on the day then your tutor will talk you through the rest of the pattern to help you proceed at home, alternatively you can book back on to another class to complete your work under guidance.

Supplied: large cutting table, rotary cutters, electric scissors and dressmaking

shears, along with our array of modern sewing machines, overlockers , tea and coffee.

Required: your pattern (please make sure that you buy your pattern before the class as we cannot guarentee patterns wll be in stock on the day of the class), fabric with matching thread, haberdashery (bikini clasps etc) and lunch.
