About this Event
Step Into History — A Rare Open House Experience Sunday, September 14 | 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM | Beside Coupeville Town Park
Historic Whidbey invites you to join us for an unprecedented chance to step into Whidbey Island's history with a tour two of Whidbey Island’s oldest homes. Originally built in the 1850s on the Joseph Smith land claim in San de Fuca, the Swift Family log homes were carefully relocated log-by-log to nestle beside the Coupeville Town Park in the 1920s. Today, these remarkable homes are private residences, rarely open to the public.
Wander through time as you explore hand-hewn architecture, learn the fascinating stories behind these structures, and connect with the rich heritage of the region. Meet the current owners, explore the craft of early homesteaders of the Washington Territory, and learn about the work of Historic Whidbey, stewards of the nearby Haller House and leaders in education, interpretation, and preservation of Whidbey Island's territorial heritage.
Reception to Follow. After your tour, enjoy a reception in Town Park, featuring music, conversation, and tasteful refreshments—an elegant conclusion to an unforgettable day.
