The event features special guests including Grammy-nominated Las Vegas sensation Khoree the R&B Poet, Mezzo Soprano Rachel Alexander, Soul Singer Karis Lovechild, and Songwriter Avalon. Let their musical talents stir your soul on this perfect date night. Leave your inhibitions at the door and bring your love confessions to the microphone during the interactive Coffy Box Rom~Com Game Show. Can you pick your partner out of a lineup, blindfolded? Have a love confession or want to propose? No pressure.
"Sweet Soul Chicago" is a B.Y.O.B. Valentine's event sponsored by Chi City Cafe, with setup and gift bags by Coffy Books to keep you in the spirit of romantic love each time you pick them up. Adults Only. Cameras are rolling for Coffy TV, so dress nicely. It's a date night.
About the Cast:
- Khoree The Poet: Grammy Award-nominated R&B/Spoken Word Artist, known for blending poetic expressions with mesmerizing performances. A trailblazer in R&B-Poetry, Khoree graces the Sweet Soul Chicago stage with a fusion of Spoken Word, R&B/Jazz, and Song. His unique artistry has garnered numerous awards, multiple Grammy nominations, and a devoted fanbase.
- Karis Lovechild: Baltimore Soul Singer, whose ethereal vibrations stir Rhythm & Blues into unforgettable memories.
- Rachel Alexander: Classically trained Mezzo-Soprano, a true Mosaic Soul who journeys from Blues to Opera.
- Avalon: Emerging Singer/Songwriter, showcasing his flair for storytelling through easy-listening new-age soul with Hip Hop leanings and infectious hooks.
Hosted by Ghetto Girl Blue, who will guide you through interactive moments and reality sketch scenes from our Coffy Box Rom-Com Show. This take on Augusto Boal's Theater of the Oppressed will ignite communication and create space for authenticity between lovers and friends.
About the Venue: "Bughouse" is inspired by Chicago’s Bughouse Square, a historic gathering place for orators and free speech advocates. Embracing its spirit, we hope to establish ourselves as a modern hub for expression. Set in a cozy black box theater, this unique show blends romance and poetic expression.
