Sweet Justice: Commemorating the Royal Ice Cream Sit-In

Join us on June 23rd at NorthStar Church of the Arts for a celebration of the historic Royal Ice Cream Sit-In. This special event will honor the bravery and legacy of the Royal 7 with a vibrant program featuring poetry, music, history, and art curated by Courtney Napier and Lauren Garcia. We'll be serving FREE ice cream with a pop-up by Auntie’s African Ice Cream, including a special commemorative flavor.

After the program, attendees can explore an exhibition of historical images and new pieces by Durham artist Wutang McDougal, providing a visual journey celebrating the past of our community’s fight for civil rights, honoring the present, and envisioning a sweet future.
