Swansea LA CPD: Extremism and Radicalisation Training

Swansea Council's Community Cohesion Team and Shout Out UK are pleased to offer fully funded training sessions for professionals and members of the community to understand extremism, recognise signs of radicalisation, and how to respond effectively.

• Learning about the definitions of ‘extremism’ and ‘radicalisation’
• An exploration of youth-centric vulnerabilities to extremism
• How-to on idenitfying the signs of radicalisation
• An examination of local threat picture
• A critical thinking skills refresher
• Learning how and when to make an effective Prevent referral
• Useful tips and tricks for online safety and young people
• Support signposting and resources
• Q&A session with experts and Prevent Officers

The objectives of the session are as follows:

1. Improve awarness of exremism, radicalisation risks and emerging trends in the local area
2. Improve ability to spot signs of harmful content and radicaisation risks
3. Enhance and develop pre-existing critical thinking skills
4. Improve confidence and ability in making Prevent referrals, and knowing when to make one.
