Μετά από 10 ολόκληρα χρόνια απουσίας, οι εμβληματικοί Swallow the Sun επιστρέφουν στην Ελλάδα για μία και μοναδική εμφάνιση, χαρίζοντας στους φίλους τους μια βραδιά γεμάτη σκοτεινή μελωδία, συγκίνηση και ατμοσφαιρική ένταση.
Οι Swallow the Sun είναι μια φινλανδική death-doom metal μπάντα που σχηματίστηκε το 2000 στην πόλη Jyväskylä από τον κιθαρίστα και βασικό συνθέτη Juha Raivio. Με την ένταξη των Markus Jämsen (κιθάρα), Mikko Kotamäki (φωνητικά), Aleksi Munter (πλήκτρα) και Matti Honkonen (μπάσο), η μπάντα διαμόρφωσε έναν μοναδικό ήχο που συνδυάζει το θρηνητικό doom με στοιχεία melodic death, gothic και black metal, δημιουργώντας σκοτεινές, ατμοσφαιρικές και έντονα συναισθηματικές συνθέσεις.

Με τον τριπλό δίσκο Songs from the North I, II & III (2015), η μπάντα παρουσίασε τρεις διαφορετικές όψεις του ήχου της – από το μελωδικό doom ως τον ακουστικό λυρισμό και το ακραίο funeral doom.
Το 2019 κυκλοφόρησαν το ιδιαίτερα προσωπικό When a Shadow Is Forced into the Light, αφιερωμένο στη μνήμη της συντρόφου του Raivio, Aleah Stanbridge, με έμφαση σε καθαρά φωνητικά και συναισθηματική ένταση. Το Moonflowers (2021) συνέχισε την πορεία τους με σύνθετες ενορχηστρώσεις και έγχορδες ορχήστρες, ενώ το πιο πρόσφατο Shining (2024) χαρακτηρίστηκε ως το «Black Album» του death-doom, χάρη στον πιο προσιτό, αλλά πάντα σκοτεινό χαρακτήρα του.
Με εννέα studio άλμπουμ, διεθνείς περιοδείες και αφοσιωμένο κοινό σε όλο τον κόσμο, οι Swallow the Sun έχουν εξελιχθεί σε ένα από τα πιο σημαντικά και επιδραστικά σχήματα του σύγχρονου doom metal. Swallow the Sun are a Finnish death-doom metal band formed in 2000 in the city of Jyväskylä by guitarist and main songwriter Juha Raivio. With the addition of Markus Jämsen (guitar), Mikko Kotamäki (vocals), Aleksi Munter (keyboards), and Matti Honkonen (bass), the band shaped a unique sound that blends mournful doom with elements of melodic death, gothic, and black metal, creating dark, atmospheric, and deeply emotional compositions.
In 2003 they released their debut The Morning Never Came, which is now considered a genre classic. This was followed by Ghosts of Loss (2005), Hope (2007), and the successful EP Plague of Butterflies (2008), which established them internationally.
