We will play five rounds of matchplay with two games per round, one old and one modern. Scoring is 5/3/2/1. Bank and games will be announced closer to event.
Attendance numbers for SUNDAY December 8th finals:
If 8-15 players, 4 will advance to finals
If 16-23 players, 8 will advance
If 24-31 players, 12* will advance
If 32-39 players, 16 will advance
If 40-47 players, 20* will advance
If 48+ players, 24* will advance
*for 12, 20, and 24 players some players will receive bye(s). 12: top 4 get a round one bye; 20: top 2 get rounds 1 and 2 bye, next 6 get round 1 bye; 24: top 8 get a round 1 bye
There will be a B and C Division finals as well:
The next four players that have an IPR of 4 or lower will qualify for B finals. The next 2 players that have an IPR of 2 or lower will qualify for C finals. If we have more than 48 players in qualifying we will increase those numbers to 8 and 4, respectively.
Finals are Sunday (following day) at 1:00pm. All finalists must check in by 12:45pm at Ice Box. If you are unsure of whether you qualify for finals, ask a TD.
Top seed in each finals group will have choice of 3-game bank or player order, next highest seed chooses next, etc. For games two and three in the round, the 4th place player from the previous game has player order choice first, 3rd place second, etc. 5/3/2/1 scoring will be used in qualifying and finals. Standard matchplay rules apply such as no picking the same bank/arenas more than once.
All players advancing to A-Division finals will receive a cash prize, and the winner will receive a trophy or plaque. The payout chart will be loosely modeled on this:
9th-24th: approximately buy-in or small amount more if pot allows
5th-8th: approximately double buy-in
4th: 10% of remaining pot, adjusted to be appropriately more than 5th-8th prize
3rd: 20%
2nd: 30%
1st: 40% + trophy/plaque
