About this Event
Sustainability Staff Network Launch – Cardiff Met
On 28th January, we're launching the Sustainability Staff Network, a space for staff and research students that are interested in sustainability to come together.
There's already brilliant work happening across the university. This network is a chance to connect those efforts more intentionally: sharing what we're doing, learning from each other, and finding new ways to collaborate.
Sustainability and climate change are often seen as heavy topics, but through this network we want to show that getting involved can be exciting, hopeful and so much good can come out if it.
About the event
The two-hour event will start with arrival and refreshments, followed and talks from our guest speakers.
David Clubb, Head of Climate Action at Cardiff Met will talk about sustainability at Cardiff Met and why this network matters.
Helen Nelson, Director of Strategic Planning and Climate & Nature for Future Generations Wales will share stories of unexpected collaborations across Wales and how working across sectors can lead to real change.
Bethan Gordon, Dean of Cardiff School of Art & Design, will highlight sustainability research and collaboration already happening at Cardiff Met, and share some reflections on the direction the university is hoping to lead towards.

Who is this network for?
The network is open to all staff and PhD students at Cardiff Met.
Can I attend for just part of the event?
Yes, you're welcome to drop in for as long as you can if you can't stay for the full two hours. The talks will be in between 13:30 – 14:30.
Will there be other events throughout the year?
Yes, we'll be holding six sustainability network meetings throughout the year, each focusing on different themes.
Do I need to work in sustainability to attend?
Not at all. You don't need any background in sustainability, whether you know nothing about it and want to learn, or you're already involved in this work, you're welcome. This network is for anyone who's interested.
