A practical session to understand how your company can support delivering to a ‘Net Zero’ National Health Service
About this Event
Sustainability in Healthcare Made Simple
Chaired by the Head of Public Affairs, , , and co-founder of , .

This away day will help you to build a practical response to the NHS 'asks', based on your specific company’s priorities and value proposition.

This day is aimed at anyone working in an NHS supplier company who would like to understand more about the world of environmental sustainability.

You do not need to be an expert, you just need to understand that this is a priority because the NHS has committed itself to becoming the ‘world’s first net zero national health service’ setting out ambitious targets to achieve this objective in Delivering to a ‘Net Zero’ National Health Service (October 2020). We understand that individuals in many companies are being asked to be responsible for this without previous expertise. We are here to help you.

Our joint targets to match the NHS plan are that we reach net zero by 2040 for emissions that the NHS controls directly, and for emissions that the NHS can influence, we must help them reach net zero by 2045.

Our Experts include:

Michelle Sullivan

Michelle has had a diverse career in pharma and medical devices, first working in the industry in 1990.

As a lateral thinker and strategist, her employers such as Covidien/Medtronic, and Boston Scientific, have often created roles to capitalise on her knowledge and skills, helping them to respond to the prevailing market conditions.

A graduate biologist with a long-standing career in sales, management, marketing and market development, Michelle chose to re-train in Health Economics at York University, adding the value ‘spectacles’ and ‘hearing-aids’ she employs today when working with the business leaders of her current employer, their customers (the NHS), and various industry bodies.

Hanno Ronte

Working with Government both in the UK and overseas on their Net Zero Plans, Hanno has the insider knowledge to help you understand why these plans have been put in place and what to expect in the coming months and years, from where. He will explain the NHS Net Zero plan in simple terms, and get you thinking in the right way to view your business through the sustainability lens.

David Lawson

Strong interest in supply chain process improvement, sustainability and leading major complex projects. Supply Chain: Lead for implementation of the largest deployment of automated inventory systems in Europe (2010) and lead for implementation of an off-site consolidation center (2019) and in-house wholesaler (2021). Complex Projects: Procurement lead for South East London Pathology Programme (£2b) and NHS England Increasing Capacity Framework Agreement (£10b), both completed in 2021. Accredited by the Government Commercial College September 2021 at Senior Commercial Specialist Level.

Shazia Mahamdallie

Shazia's current role researches and delivers evidence-based solutions for sustainable healthcare transformations that require collaboration across the healthcare supply chain. Her previous role in the NHS UK implemented genome sequencing into clinical practice - the first national healthcare system in the world to offer this testing in routine care - along with the associated infrastructure development, deployment and education.

Martin Kelly

The first half of Martin's career encompassed a range of corporate management functions leading to general management roles. This was followed by a phase focusing on turnarounds at SMEs. He discovered the importance of cross-functional teams, new product development and strategic partnerships.

The next phase involved setting up or working with a variety of innovative businesses. Martin has a passion for commercialising innovation coupled with a deep drive to make a difference.

He then set up the INNOVO group of companies in 2011, weaving together all these strands, and many others developed since, with the hundreds of senior executives from every industry who has worked with them.
