About this Event
We will start with a brief introduction to Forest Bathing. Followed by a quick presentation on tree characteristics important for identification. Then self select an area or a tree species as a journaling topic. Wrap up with a group share time, participation optional. See Agenda section for more details. We will be entirely outside. There are bathrooms available in the museum located on the same property.

Introduction to Forest Bathing
Host: Shannon Zimmerman Certified Forest Therapy Guide
Info: Forest Therapy, also known as forest bathing, is a form of ecotherapy that focuses on the holistic benefits of being among the trees. Participants will slow down, open our senses, explore the history of this practice, and learn about the mental and physical health benefits. We will also discuss how participants can take this practice home. Then attendees will receive an invitation to be with the trees in an embodied manner to inform our time of nature journaling.

Tree Observation Overview

Info: Explanation of typical tree characteristics important in identification and observation of trees. Helpful in a more technical journaling page.

Journaling Workshop
Info: Find a space that inspires you, working solo or in collaboration at a tree of interest. Bring supplies such as a journal, pencil, pen, watercolors. Most important bring a portable chair or blanket! Water and snack is important too.

Group Sharing and Wrap Up
