SAVE THE DATE: OPENING OF CONTEMPORARY ART FESTIVAL SURVIVAL KIT 17 ON AUGUST 27!
📍Riga Congress Hall (Krišjāņa Valdemāra 5) | 18:00-20:30
Opening of festival's exhibition "Arrow of the wind: On Artists and Healers" + performances:
Naima Nefertari - "Solo piano & Sound offerings"
Zora Snake - "A Rite for Elsa"
Maya Minder
📍Healing Nightclub @ Kaņepes Kultūras centrs | 21:00-02:00
An interdisciplinary artistic proposition where people, dance, sound, music, and various healing practices come together in a shared nocturnal experiment.
21:00 Timo Tuhkanen
Providing the introduction to the ceremonial evening is Timo Tuhkanen. They will play a set that emerges from an intense research into the connection between music, medical hypnosis, daseinanalysis, and touch. Built from a bricolage of existing music, vocal samples, microtonal Max/Msp patches, and ableton, the performance invites the audience towards self-reflection and relaxation before leading them towards more intense gestures.
22:00 Mo’ong
Mo’ong will perform playing his signature custom electro-acoustic instruments reconnecting and reinterpreting the sounds of his Indonesian heritage through ancient and modern ideas of trance and shamanism, decolonising his cultural expressions, and honoring their origins while adapting them to modern contexts and leading the audience deeper into bodily expression and awareness of the connection between bodies.
23:00 DJ Bunuel
A pioneer of Finnish DJ music and culture, proving to dance-floor and radio audiences since 1977 that the need to move and dance is not bound by genre but by musical imagination and creativity on the decks.
