About this Event
US national security is changing through new data-driven security practices and AI. In this talk Hina Shamsi, ACLU National Security Project Director, engages with these shifts and the right-focused challenges and opportunities they present for U.S. privacy, surveillance, and AI regulation, particularly as the US heads into a presidential election. Her talk will include illustrative examples of programs impacting individual rights, such as border vetting and watchlisting. The moderated Q & A with Gavin Sullivan (Edinburgh Law School) will also consider other approaches to these problems in the UK and beyond. An event jointly co-organised by ECIGL, SCGA, and GJA.
