Surface Decoration for Ceramics: Printing & Transfers!

This is an intermediate class for anyone who has been practicing pottery for a short while and wants to start exploring decoration techniques beyond glazes. In this workshop we'll be exploring different ways of introducing print to your ceramic pieces.

This class will cover how to use pre-made underglaze decals but also how to create your own. How to use stencilling, screenprinting and mono printing methods with underglaze and slip to introduce intricate and colourful prints to your ceramic work.

Printing on pottery takes time and practise to perfect, especially on large surfaces or complicated shapes. This class will introduce you to the techniques through small test pieces. We will provide two small pots and tiles for you to decorate during the class or you're welcome to bring some small pots of your own (stoneware clay firing to 1230° ) bisqued or leather hard.

After the class your pieces will dry in the studio before being fired and clear-glazed by studio technicians. Ready for collection in 2 weeks.
