Mae Griots, y cyfeirir ato yn Mandinka fel Jali, yn ffigurau diwylliannol mewn cymdeithas ledled Gorllewin Affrica sy’n cario gwybodaeth ddiwylliannol a hunaniaeth y bobl.
Mae ei dad, Mamudou Susso, yn chwaraewr kora o fri yn Y Gambia, ac roedd ei ddiweddar fam, Fatou Bintu Cissokho, yn wreiddiol o ranbarth Casamance yn Senegal, yn gantores ac yn offerynnwr taro aruthrol. Symudodd Sura i’r DU yn ddwy ar bymtheg oed, fel yr offerynnwr taro ym mand ei frawd, Pumawd Seckou Keita. Mae wedi gweithio ac wedi perfformio ochr yn ochr â cherddorion rhyngwladol enwog sy’n cynnwys Baaba Maal, Rokia Traore, Habib Koite a Sona Jobarteh.

Kora Player, Percussionist, Composer, Singer-Songwriter from Gambia and a family of griots.
Griots, referred to in Mandinka as Jali, are cultural figures in society across West Africa who carry the cultural knowledge and identity of the people.
His father, Mamudou Susso, is a renowned kora player in The Gambia, and his late mother, Fatou Bintu Cissokho, originally from the Casamance region of Senegal, was a formidable singer and percussionist. Sura moved to the UK at the age of seventeen, as the percussionist in his brother’s band, the Seckou Keita Quintet. He has worked with and performed alongside renown international musicians which include Baaba Maal, Rokia Traore, Habib Koite and Sona Jobarteh.
