About this Event
Working as an education professional has been shown to be one of the most stressful professions in the UK, with evidence that despite the rewards of the job, working in schools can have a serious effect on people’s emotional health and wellbeing. But when your staff team feels supported and resilient, it shows in many ways, including in your student outcomes.
This practical workshop is designed to give you the dedicated time and tools you need to do plan and develop your approach to supporting staff wellbeing in your setting. The training is based on a Compassion-Focused approach, an evidence-based and effective way of understanding how to manage stress and build resilience.
This is a 'train the trainer' session, with the aim of both giving you ideas and the resources to go back and lead this work with your own staff teams. We know from research that for training to have a lasting impact, it needs to be supported back in the workplace. This day is designed to make sure that happens, by helping you be a confident champion for wellbeing in your school.
This session forms part of our 'Skills for the Mind' training pathway, which is designed to support your learning around ways to help promote and support good wellbeing at work. You can find out more about our pathways of support here: https://lehss.co.uk/pathways.html
What The Session Will Cover:
- A compassion-focused approach: exploring the science of stress and how a compassion-focused approach can help. We will cover effective strategies for how to create an environment that reduces burnout and helps staff feel supported.
- A 'Trainer's Toolkit': we will introduce a pack of ready-to-use resources, including practical activities, conversation starters, and simple exercises. These are tools you can take straight back to school to use in staff meetings, INSET days, or with individual teams.
- Create a wellbeing action plan: through the day we will have dedicated time to think about applying the ideas into your setting and how you can begin to develop a workable and tailored strategy for your team.
Who Is This For?
This workshop is for anyone in a school or college leadership role who wants to make a real impact on staff wellbeing. This includes:
