Supporting Refugees in Canterbury - Talk

The Canterbury Society have organised an inspiring and informative talk showcasing the work of two key organisations supporting refugees, asylum seekers and those forced to migrate. Dr Razia Shariff CEO of KRAN (Kent Refugee Action Network) and Samantha Scott Marques Development & Alumni Engagement Lead at the University of Kent ‘Sanctuary Project’ will tell us about the support and training they offer and the amazing work they are doing, particulary with young people and students who are making their home in Canterbury.
Razia will talk about KRAN , established 2003, and the various projects they deliver including the Mentoring Partnership, Learning for Life, Advocacy & Support which ensure young people’s voices are heard. The University of Kent is officially a ‘University of Sanctuary’ and Sam will tell us about the Sanctuary Scholarship scheme for young students which offers support with access to higher education, accomodation, travel and tuition fees. She will also talk about ‘Projekt Encounter’, which supports community engagement, ‘Freedom’ arts project and the ‘Law Clinic’ offering legal support.
