About this Event
This programme is designed to help public sector professionals, parents, and carers understand how neurodiversity and vulnerability can influence susceptibility to radicalisation. Participants will gain practical knowledge, case insights, and safeguarding tools to better protect those at risk.
1. Understanding Neurodiversity and Vulnerability
- Introduction to neurodiversity and common neurodivergent traits.
- Exploration of how these traits may increase vulnerability to radicalisation, including challenges around social isolation, identity exploration, sensory regulation, and patterns of thinking.
2. Ideological Grooming and Online Exploitation
- Case examples illustrating how extremist influencers target individuals online.
- Patterns of manipulation, exploitation, and ideological grooming in both digital and real-world contexts.
3. Recognising the Warning Signs
- Guidance on identifying early indicators of susceptibility, including:
- Fixation on violence or extremist ideology.
- Shifts in behaviour and language.
- Other behavioural red flags that signal heightened risk.
