Champaign is introducing the removal of parking minimums throughout the city! In town and campus districts already have no minimum parking requirements. This update would mean that parking is still allowed to be built, but the arbitrary number of spots set by the code would be removed and the exact number of parking spots would be left up to the builder.
Parking mandates increase the costs of building housing and the number of spots required are arbitrary-- not based on any kind of demand study or data.
