Session # 1: Decarbonization of Supply Chains - January 24, 2023

Decarbonization within the supply chain plays a critical role in realizing net-zero ambitions, and businesses are in a unique position to influence supplier behaviors, operations and investments through incentives.

There are challenges to supply chain decarbonization and there are performance implications, having a supply chain perspective is crucial for organizations to achieve carbon neutrality. This roundtable will be addressing the following questions, among others:

• What are the challenges to supply chain decarbonization?

• How to overcome the challenges?

• What are the performance implications of moving towards carbon neutrality?

Fabrice Bonnifet (Director Sustainable Development & Quality, Safety, Environment Group Bouygues)

Fabrice Bonnifet's Sustainable Development Director & QSE (Quality Safety Environment) of the Bouygues Group Fabrice Bonnifet mission is to lead and coordinate the sustainable development/CSR process of the Bouygues Group. For this, he participated to support managers in the changing business models of operational units, pilot transversal projects associated particularly with the strategy: climate and biodiversity, sustainable procurement, eco-design and circular economy ... In addition, it provides non-financial reporting and dialogue with stakeholders of the Group. Finally, he leads the industry QSE / DD Group and organizes seminars self-assessments and training courses for managers on the subject of the reconfiguration of management systems to move towards models of 'contributory companies.

He is also President of the College of Directors of Sustainable Development (C3D) and Administrator of The Shift Project.

Fabrice is an engineer from the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers, he teaches at the University of Paris Dauphine in the Masters in Sustainable Development & Organizations, at ENSAM and ESTP in the Specialized Masters in Sustainable Construction.

Sylvain Guyoton (Chief Rating Officer, Ecovadis)

With more than 20 years of experience in sustainability and ESG solutions, Sylvain oversees our ratings operations and methodology development in his role as Chief Rating Officer. He has been with EcoVadis since its inception, serving as VP of Research from 2007 to 2021. Prior to this, Sylvain was Head of Research and Rating Operations at Vigeo Eiris, a leading ESG ratings and research agency since acquired by Moody’s. He holds an MSc in Industrial Management from Cranfield University and an MBA from INSEAD.

Kaushik Vedpathak (Associate Partner in the Amsterdam office of McKinsey & Company)

Kaushik Vedpathak is helping his clients achieve their full potential through digital & data transformation including on sustainability. He focuses on heavy industries at McKinsey after working 12 years at Tata Steel.

His expertise lies on approaches to improve production and supply chain through the application of new technologies, particularly; he developed expertise in solving the decarbonization of heavy industry through analytics.

Kaushik has a bachelor degree in engineering and MBA in supply chain & operation management. Prior to joining McKinsey, Kaushik worked in several leadership and management roles for Tata Steel Europe, e.g., Director for Information Technology, Director for Business Transformation, and Head of S&OP and supply chain planning.

The Supply Chain clubs of the INSEAD Alumni Association and the Alumni Stanford Club of France collaborate with Supply Chain Leaders to share insights, expertise and the state of the art in Supply Chain

Supply Chain & Logistics teams are at the frontline confronting inflation, demand volatility, components scarcity, carbon footprint scrutiny and transportation shortages among other key challenges. It has become clear that to overcome these challenges we must collaborate across teams, companies and industries. This is “la raison d'être” of the following Executive Breakfast series.

Purpose: Supply Chain Executives gather to share best practice, discuss challenges and network. There will be three sessions focusing on: Decarbonization, Digital Supply Chains and Risk Mitigation.

Round table followed by a general Q&A. Networking time at the end. Coffee and Croissants offered during the session.
